Questions to expect in Maruti Suzuki interviews
Drawn from reported fresher tests and interviews (sources below), with short answers. Practise more on placd.
What is scavenging in an engine?
Scavenging is clearing burnt exhaust gas out of the cylinder and refilling it with fresh charge. It matters most in two-stroke engines, where the incoming charge itself pushes exhaust out through the ports (cross, loop or uniflow scavenging). In four-stroke engines some scavenging happens during valve overlap. Poor scavenging leaves residual gas and lowers power.
What is the use of a differential in automobiles?
On a turn the outer driven wheel travels farther than the inner one. The differential lets the two wheels on an axle rotate at different speeds while still transmitting drive torque to both, so tyres do not scrub. Its crown wheel and pinion also give the final-drive reduction and, in rear-wheel drive, turn the drive through 90 degrees.
What happens if air enters a hydraulic system, and what is this phenomenon called?
It is called aeration (air entrainment). Air is compressible, so the system becomes spongy, slow and erratic, loses pressure, gets noisy and foamy, and the oil overheats and oxidises faster; in brakes you get a spongy pedal. It is cured by bleeding the system and fixing suction-side leaks. It differs from cavitation, which is vapour bubbles forming at low pressure.
What is 1 tonne of refrigeration?
One tonne of refrigeration (TR) is the rate of heat removal needed to freeze 1 short ton (2000 lb) of water at 0 deg C into ice in 24 hours. It equals about 3.517 kW, 211 kJ/min or 12,000 BTU/h. Air-conditioner and chiller capacities are quoted in TR.
What material is a crankshaft made of?
Most crankshafts are forged medium-carbon steel (for example 40C8 or SAE 1045 class), or forged alloy steel such as Cr-Mo or Ni-Cr-Mo grades for high-performance and diesel engines. Many passenger-car engines use cast spheroidal-graphite (ductile) iron because it is cheaper and damps vibration. Journals are usually induction-hardened or nitrided for wear resistance.
What is the difference between nominal mix and design mix concrete?
Nominal mix uses fixed proportions (for example about 1:1.5:3 for M20) without designing for the actual materials; IS 456 allows it only up to M20. Design mix proportions are worked out by IS 10262 from the target mean strength and tested properties of the cement, aggregates and admixtures. Design mix is more economical and reliable and is used for M25 and above.
About Maruti Suzuki hiring
Is colour blindness allowed for the Maruti Suzuki GET?
No. Reported Maruti Suzuki GET drive notices list vision issues and colour blindness as disqualifying, along with pending backlogs and marks below 65% in any of 10th, 12th/diploma or degree. Check this before registering.
What is the Maruti Suzuki presentation round?
After the online test, shortlisted candidates present a short deck to a panel, usually about themselves, their achievements or their project. Panel questions then grow out of what you presented, so put only things on the slides you can defend technically.
What is the Maruti Suzuki GET salary?
Glassdoor users report GET base pay of about ₹6–8 LPA (118 salaries), and a 2026 GET drive summary gives the same ₹6–8 LPA as expected CTC. Figures vary by drive and year; the offer letter is the reliable number.
