NTPC hires fresh engineers as Engineering Executive Trainees (EET) through GATE. In its recent adverts, applicants are shortlisted for document verification on that year's GATE performance and organisational need, then offered appointment subject to eligibility and a medical; no group discussion or interview is listed. - Full-time BE/BTech or AMIE in the advertised discipline with at least 65% marks (55% for SC/ST/PwBD in EET-2024)

- Must appear and qualify in the matching GATE paper of the same year; only that year's GATE marks are valid

Does NTPC hold an interview for Engineering Executive Trainees?
Not in the recent adverts we checked. EET-2024 (Advt. 19/23) and the 2026 Civil drive (Advt. 07B/26) shortlist on GATE for document verification, then issue offers subject to eligibility and medical fitness. Treat GD or interview advice as outdated unless the current advert lists one.
What GATE score do I need for NTPC?
NTPC's adverts do not state a cut-off. It shortlists on GATE performance against the vacancies in each discipline and category, so the cut-off moves every year. Aim to be well inside the top ranks of your paper.
What is the NTPC EET salary?
Trainees join the E1 grade: ₹40,000–1,40,000 with a starting basic of ₹40,000, plus DA, HRA or company housing and other allowances. The adverts do not state a CTC, so treat any lakh-per-year figure you see as an estimate.
